15 - The Devil - Pokemon Tarot - Cross Stitch Pattern
Inspired by Pokemon, and my love of Tarot.
Pokemon Tarot
The idea for cross stitched Pokemon Tarot cards came about because I love Pokemon, and have never found a Tarot deck that is attuned to me. I love how versatile Pokemon are, and how much meaning you can get in the designs. I designed each card with no backstitching, wanting them to look more more pixelated like the earlier games. I take inspiration from the movies, tv show, and cards for each design. The Major Arcana's cards colors are standard Pokemon colors - a black-yellow-black outline, with the card name at the bottom in yellow on a black background. Each suit of cards has a different color in place of the yellow, so that they can be easily told apart and to show that suit's connection to Ash, Misty, Brock, and Jessie&James.
15 – The Devil – Pokemon Tarot
Mewtwo is about to destroy the laboratory in which he was made, the scene this was modeled off of is one of my favorites in the first movie. You can almost hear the researcher's voice saying the line “We dreamed of creating the world's strongest Pokemon...and we succeeded.” The researcher knew looking at Mewtwo that he had created this monster and that the monster was going to end him, and everyone else at the lab. Mewtwo (in this instance) is really a devil of their own making. Mewtwo then goes on to continue his destructive patterns throughout the movie, and only when he sees that those habits and patterns aren't useful or right does he find any sort of peace.
