2024 Broadway SAL - Design Insights - A

For the A we had a couple suggestions, but we decided to start out strong with Annie.

This one is a personal one for me (Tina) as well, because I used to watch Annie all the time with my father, who is the one who got me into musicals.

For me the biggest part of this letter was Sandy, because of course he is. I went with the original Sandy's build, but the coloration off of some of the newer pups. I had not realized until putting this letter together that all the dogs used in the show were from high kill shelters and most of them about to be euthanized (because I needed to cry first thing in the morning while working on this.)

We included in the locket, of course. Drawing it I realized how rarely I draw hearts. It's the simple shapes that always take me a minute, because I try to make them more fancy. I also tried several times to make the locket gold, even though it's silver in the stage show.

We included a silhouette of the city as well, since Warbucks shows her around the city, and to represent the backdrop of the show.

Our last element was the bucket and soap bubbles. This is from Hard Knock Life of course, and we were glad to add it in so that y'all can add in more bubbles to tie the A to other letters if you want. This is the sort of element we used for our first Broadway SAL to tie letters to each other (and we used bubbles on that one too!)

I personally had a lot of fun with this one and hope y'all will enjoy stitching it as much as I enjoyed designing it.
