2024 Broadway SAL B - Design Insights

We tried a couple different things for this one because there were so many elements we wanted to fit into the design. The snake being the first thing, though obviously the snake didn't make it into the design. It was too big to be identifiable at the size we would have needed it. Then we tried to add the giant puppet, but it looked like the B was doing jazz hands.

We ended up going with the scenery from the beginning (coffin), and the railing that is on the roof of the house. After we put those elements on with the stripes in the B (which at the time were thinner, but it was impossible to read the words so we had to widen the stripes), it was starting to have the general vibe we were going for. Then we put the netherworld into the holes in the B. We were originally going to do the door with the netherworld in it, but decided to use the holes in the B instead because it worked out nicely. Then we added the green beetle, because, you know we had to :)

The book was the last graphic we added on, and probably the most detailed graphic. We originally drew two of it to see which came out better, we didn't think we were going to be able to get the detail on it we wanted, but Tina decided to give it a try and ended up thrilled with how it looked.

The words were fun, because I (Cynthia) really wanted to do Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, but there was no way I was going to fit that in the letter (and we're already putting the name on the designs). So we ended up going with creating a shadow effect on the name, so that it was like it was there twice and “give me just one more” on the letter.
